Thomas Müller: "Of course I'll watch FC Bayern vs. BVB!"

Thomas Müller is going down as one of the biggest Bayern Munich legends ever. Tonight it will be the first "Klassiker" without Müller being involved in any way since the 2008/09 season!

Thomas Müller is not only one of the greatest legends in the history of Bayern Munich and German football - he’s also one of the standout performers in Der Klassiker.

Tonight marks the first time since the 2008/09 season (!) that Müller will not be involved in the historic clash between Bayern and Borussia Dortmund. But will he still be watching as a fan?

“I'm a Bundesliga kid — of course I'll watch the game and cross my fingers for Bayern!” said Müller ahead of the match.

The former Bayern star has featured in 45 games against Dortmund - more than against any other club in his career. His 14 goals in this fixture make him the third-highest scorer in Der Klassiker history, behind only Robert Lewandowski (32) and Gerd Müller (15). But does he miss being part of this iconic encounter?

“I'm not a nostalgic guy. I've played many such games for Bayern in the past. Now I've decided to do something else — or rather, I'm no longer qualified for Der Klassiker. When I look back, it was wonderful. But for me, the present is now the Vancouver Whitecaps.”
