Having incurred his fifth yellow card in last night's loss to Stuttgart, Mbabu has likely played his final match in an FCA tricot. Multiple German footballing media sources report that, much as the Fuggerstädter wish to keep him, circumstances will not permit it.
Germany's Kicker Magazine reports that Mbabu's move to the London side in the summer of 2022 brought with it a salary that Augsburg find untenable. Moreover, there is no purchase option in the current loan agreement with Fulham. Mbabu's parent club are known to want their player back and even attempted to recall him early during the recent January transfer window.
