Nagelsmann on impressive opening win: "A very good first step"

Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has shared his thoughts on Friday's 5-1 Euro 2024 opening win over Scotland.

Julian Nagelsmann was obviously a very happy man after watching his Germany side record a crushing 5-1 victory over Scotland in their Euro 2024 opener.

The German coach was particularly impressed by the start, as he revealed in a post-match interview.

"The first 20 minutes were impressive. Scotland were impressed too. It was very concentrated right to the end," said Nagelsmann.

"I'm not an admonisher. But the boys already know that it was a very good first step. Of course we want to follow it up with a second one on Wednesday against Hungary.

Nagelsmann was also pleased with the fact that there were five different goalscorers among the Germans.

“It's valuable that it's not just one person getting the reward, but that we can share it out. I'm particularly happy for Jamal (Musiala) because he missed some big opportunities in Qatar [at the World Cup]. That has kept him occupied,” said the Germany coach.
