Last season, Lukas Hradecky and Matej Kovar shared the playing time in goal for Bayer Leverkusen, with the former making 35 appearances and the latter 17.
Hradecky, the club's captain, played mostly in the Bundesliga, while Kovar was often called upon in cup competitions.
Asked at the press conference ahead of his side's DFL-Supercup clash with VfB Stuttgart on Saturday who will start in goal tomorrow, Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso refused to give a clear answer.
"We'll see tomorrow," he said.
When asked to elaborate on the goalkeeping situation, Xabi Alonso added:
"We'll see from game to game.
"We don't have a plan yet, but we need good competition at every position."
Alonso was also asked about the situation regarding Jonathan Tah, who looked set to leave for Bayern Munich, but now looks likely to stay.
"He is in my plan. Jonathan is very important for us," the Leverkusen coach insisted.
