1. FC Köln have confirmed the arrival of 23-year-old striker Steffen Tigges from Borussia Dortmund.

Tigges has put pen to paper on a five-year deal with 'The Billy Goats'.

"We are pleased that we were able to sign Steffen Tigges. Steffen has many important qualities to play as a striker. He is able to finish inside the box, is able to hold the ball up well, is good in the air and reads the game well. He also possesses a readiness to always work and be aggressive against the ball," FC Köln managing director Christian Keller stated.

"At the same time, Steffen can still improve and make steps in his development in all aspects of his game. That promises a lot for the future. It is also important that Steffen has recovered from his ankle injury in March. He is already in rehab training, so that we can look to integrate him into team training during pre-season."

Steffen Tigges commented:

"I am looking forward to joining 1. FC Köln and I am certain that I can bring my qualities into the team and continue to develop at the highest level. The discussions with the coach and the officials convinced me straight away that it is exactly the right move for me. I am convinced that I will fit well with the team and way we play, and that we’ll have a good season. The fact that 1. FC Köln are one of the biggest clubs in Germany and have incredible support from their fans also played an important role in my move. I can’t wait to get started."

Tigges featured a total of 23 times for Dortmund's senior side, scoring three goals.
