Official: Schalke seal Kral signing

Alex Kral has joined Schalke 04 on a one-year deal.
FC Schalke 04 have signed Czech international Alex Kral on a one-year deal from Spartak Moscow.

Kral's contract with Spartak has been suspended until the end of the 2022/23 season because of FIFA's special transfer regulations outlined for foreign players in Russia as a result of the war in Ukraine.

"Alex's overall package is ideal for his position. Despite his height at 1.87 metres, he is very nimble, covers a lot of ground and has a decent top speed. He’s smart in his work off the ball, closes space well and is good at anticipating his opponents. He is also very experienced for a 24-year-old and his body language is very positive," said Schalke sporting director Rouven Schröder.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder commented:

"I'm really looking forward to meeting my new teammates at the training camp and completing my first sessions out on the pitch. We have a big challenge ahead of us in one of the best leagues in Europe. We want and will prepare ourselves for it as best we can."
