Flick responds to leaked squad list: "Not all the names traded are accurate."

German national team trainer Hans Dieter Flick has commented on list leaked by German tabloid Sport Bild purporting to reveal his World Cup preliminary roster.

The Bundestrainer also answered questions about Niclas Füllkrug, Mats Hummels, and Florian Wirtz during an interview with RTL/nTV.
A list leaked by Germany's main sporting tabloid on Sunday claimed to contain a list of 44 German footballers on Hansi Flick's provisional World Cup squad. For the first time since the release of the list, Flick addressed the leak in an interview with RTL/nTV. According to the Bundestrainer, the list contains a few falsehoods.

"Not all the traded names are accurate," Flick noted, "There also a few players on the list who have not played a role with us thus far."

One assumes Flick is referring to players who have not yet received a senior-team call up, such as Rani Khedira/Robin Knoche (both of 1. FC Union Berlin), Luca Negate (Gladbach) and Youssoufa Moukoko (Dortmund).

Two players whom have "not played a role" with the Flick regime--Niclas Füllkrug (never called up) and Mats Hummels (never called up Flick)--are tacitly assumed to be part of Flick's plans in German footballing circles.

"He embodies something that we don't have in our current constellation," Flick said of Füllkrug, "It's been a good season for him."

"We have agreed on things, but those remain between us," Flick responded when asked about Hummels.

As for German phenom Florian Wirtz's race to get fit in time for the tournament, the Bundestrainer implied that if he would be taking Wirtz along, it would be with great caution.

He plays up without a care in the world. But the important thing is that his injury heals top," Flick said, "Maybe we'll take a young player with us so he can gain tournament experience."
