Report: Schalke will not sign Schwolow permanently
Per Bild, the newly-promoted side will let starting goalkeeper and Hertha BSC loanee Alexander Schwolow leave the club after the season.
Schalke will not sign Alexander Schwolow to a permanent deal due to inconsistent performances and too many mistakes in goal, according to Bild. Schwolow is on a season-long loan from Hertha Berlin and there is no option to purchase.
A summer transfer out of the capital is likely with youngster Oliver Christensen the new clear no. 1 in goal. It won't be easy, as Schwolow has a contract until 2025 and is paid an annual salary of €2.5 million per year.
The 30-year-old has struggled ever since his €7 million move from Freiburg to Hertha BSC in 2020. Schwolow has started every competitive game this season and has allowed 33 goals in 14 appearances.
