Kicker Report: Bochum renew push for former Mainzer Malong

Oliver Bitter of Germany's preeminent footballing publication, together with Greek footballing journalist Georgios Vavritsas, report that VfL Bochum are back at work trying to procure former Mainz professional Pierre Kunde Malong.
Always linked with a return to the Bundesliga this past summer, it might still be the case that Cameroonian international Pierre Kunde Malong will play for VfL Bochum in the current campaign. The 34-times-capped international did feature for his country during the recent World Cup, but has hardly any prospects for playing time on the bloated 40-man-roster of Olympiacos Piraeus.

The former Mainz professional, currently maintaining a estimated market worth of €2 million in the latest transfermarkt listings, could be had for a relatively modest transfer fee. Cash-strapped Bochum are nevertheless, according to a report in Germany's Kicker magazine, still trying to work out a much cheaper loan-deal.

From Bochum's point of view, acquiring Malong would make a great deal of sense. The squad requires additional help in midfield. Malong could conceivably complement current captain Anthony Losilla well as part of a double-six-setup. The Revierklub could urgently use someone with Bundesliga experience capable of contributing with little delay.

Malong made a total of 68 Bundesliga appearances for Mainz.
