The "dpa" confirms a Sport1 report emerging earlier in the day claiming that Bundestrainer Hansi Flick has been informed of Gündogan's desire to continue. Flick will surely be delighted to welcome back an actor he used in his starting XI during all three group stage matches in Qatar. The 66-times-capped German international was not able to partake in the 2014 World Cup triumph due to issues t=with his back.
The road towards the German hosted 2024 European Championship begins later this month. Flick's Nationalmannschaft face Peru and Belgium in a pair of friendlies on March 25th and March 28th, respectively. Gündogan has been representing the Bundesrepublik since debuting under former Bundestrainer Joachim Löw in 2011.
