Sky Report: Demme and Hertha discuss possible move

Sky Germany's Lisa de Ruiter reports that German defensive midfielder Diego Demme visited Berlin earlier this week in order to conduct talks with Hertha BSC about a potential transfer.

While a move to the recently relegated side may seem far-fetched, the 31-year-old could be on his way back to Germany in some form this summer.

According to one source at Sky's German outfit, once-capped German international Diego Demme visited Hertha BSC this week to discuss a possible transfer over the summer. Demme no longer has a role at Italian champions S.S.C. Napoli. Sky journalist Lisa de Ruiter writes that Demme's visit hardly means that a transfer is imminent, given that Hertha have many personnel issues, bond debts that are coming due, and a 2. Bundesliga licensing snafu that all must be sorted through first.

A return to German football could still very much be in the cards for the native Westphalian. Demme was linked with three Bundesliga clubs during the last January transfer window. VfB Stuttgart and Bayer 04 Leverkusen were specifically referenced while the third top-tier German side went unmanned. Demme could prove an asset for several teams. FC Köln, for example, will find themselves in need of a new defensive midfield anchor following the departure of linchpin Ellyes Skhiri.
