Sport Bild Report: United willing to lower asking price for Sancho
Germany's main sporting tabloid claims that Manchester United are willing to lower their price tag for on loan attacker Jadon Sancho to a sum that may be more amendable to Borussia Dortmund.
BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl - in several public statements on the matter - has made it clear that Borussia Dortmund stand very little chance of requiring on-loan Manchester United attacker Jadon Sancho. Germany's "Sport Bild" tabloid nevertheless now reports that the 23-year-old's EPL parent club is now prepared to lower their asking price for Sancho. The German paper cites internal sources in England to claim that Man U are willing to let the youngster go for a sum of €35 to €40 million.
Given that Sancho's current estimated market worth lies at €25 million, the figure might still be too high for Dortmund. The English Red Devils will naturally still try to seek to recoup some of the reported €90 million they spent to acquire Sancho in the summer of 2021. Kehl and the administrative team may also net some €40 to €50 million from the sale of Donyell Malen this offseason, meaning that there will be some extra liquidity available for their former star. Sport Bild does note that Dortmund would prefer another loan.
It's been an eventful week for Sancho. After finally opening his account for Dortmund in the league in Saturday night, the Camberwell-native also helped his German club punch their ticket to the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League quarterfinal ticket with a goal in last night's win over PSV. Sport Bild emphasizes that United are rather keen to offload their former exorbitant purchase, who has not developed anywhere near in line with their hopes. Since returning to the Bundesrepublik, Sancho has received repeated backing from the BVB coaching staff and management.
