Bayern München star Thomas Müller says he's trying to look forward after recently being axed from the German national team.

"Of course the message from the German Football Association was a negative surprise. But you have to look forward - not only in professional sports, but in life in general," Müller told Sport Bild.

Earlier this month, Germany coach Joachim Löw traveled to Munich to inform Müller, Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels that they're not part of his plans for the foreseeable future, and Müller subsequently posted a video in which he complained about the way Löw and the German Football Association handled the situation.

"I made it clear what is felt like for the guys and me. Emotions and feelings are part of the football business, but life goes on," Müller said.

Müller says he's now fully focused on winning the double with Bayern München.

"Of course that's now the big goal and also the motivation in the wake of what happened recently," he said.
