Fabrizio Romano reported that Union Saint-Gilloise are closing on signing Mateo Biondić from Eintracht Trier. According to the transfer expert, the two clubs have agreed on the deal, with a medical examination to follow imminently.

The 1.90m-tall striker rejoined Eintracht Trier in the summer on a free transfer from SC Verl. He only had one goal for Verl last term, but he has already scored seven and assisted five at a similar level this season. Eintracht Trier ended 2025 in 11th place in Regionalliga Südwest, one of Germany's multi-tiered fourth division.

Biondić, who has also held Croatian citizenship, went through Schalke’s famed academy. Last season’s Belgian Pro League champions are in the race to repeat their success, while they have already won two games in their debut Champions League appearance. It’s a huge step from the semi-professional level to Europe’s premier competition for the 22-year-old.
