Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc lauded praise on Thomas Delaney following BVB's 4-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
"We needed a good result today. We were already under pressure. The team radiated confidence. I'd particularly like to praise Thomas Delaney, who – to put it in exaggerated terms – was involved in 200 challenges and won 210 of them. He performed outstandingly. The result gives the team stability. We can build on that," Zorc told Borussia Dortmund's website.
Delaney was pleased that he and his teammates managed to bounce back from their disappointing 1-3 defeat to Union Berlin on Matchday 3.
"It was a good performance from the entire team. We were clinical. It's never easy to play against Leverkusen. The coach said that Leverkusen would apply a lot of pressure at the beginning. In situations like that, it's important to get through the opening minutes. We were disappointed after the match in Berlin. You can't afford too many performances like that if you want to win the title," he said.
Dortmund sit second in the Bundesliga, one point behind RB Leipzig.
