Confirmed: Leipzig sign American talent Caden Clark, midfielder to arrive in December

Eighteen-year-old New York Red Bulls prospect Caden Clark now officially belongs to RB Leipzig of the German Bundesliga.

The youngster will head to the Bundesrepublik after the conclusion of the current MLS campaign in December.
It had long been rumored that German football's Red Bull GmbH club were prepared to pluck midfielder Caden Clark from their American affiliate club. Clark visited Germany late last year, spending some time with fellow countryman Tyler Adams at the team's training complex.

A lateral deal within the RB system seemed almost certain. Now it is confirmed. Leipzig announced that Clark had signed with the Bundesliga side through 2024. In order to not rush Clark's development, the German Red Bulls opted to immediately loan him back out to RBNY. He will complete the current MLS campaign before suiting up in Saxony in the second half of the 2021/22 campaign.

Clark got off to a strong start in the current young MLS season. He's scored four goals and registered one assist in eight appearances. An emergency appendectomy has sidelined him over the past couple of weeks, but the player in expected to make a full recovery.

"With the signing of Caden Clark, we have once again completed an early developmental transfer and gotten a highly talented young player to commit to us in the long-term," RB Commercial Director of Sport Florian Scholz said in a statement, "We opted for an immediate loan in order to allow the player, who is only 18-years-old, to complete the MLS season before joining us in Leipzig."
