RB Leipzig defender Marcel Halstenberg is expected to join Borussia Dortmund before the transfer window closes.

According to Leipziger Volkszeitung, Dortmund are set to conclude a deal with RB Leipzig to sign Marcel Halstenberg.

The 29-year-old has just one year left on his contract and has been linked with Dortmund for a while.

It was previously reported that 'Die Schwarzgelben' wanted to offload Nico Schulz before closing a deal for Halstenberg. However, at the moment, there are no signs that Schulz will be on the move this summer.

Halstenberg has played for RB Leipzig since making the switch to Red Bull Arena from FC St. Pauli in 2015.

He has featured a total of 185 times for 'Die Roten Bullen' with 13 goals and 23 assists to his name.
