As anticipated for some time now, Merlin Röhl's loan from SC Freiburg to Everton FC has been turned into a permanent deal.
The Toffees have officially announced the transfer of the midfielder who is also capable of playing further forward in attack.
Reportedly, the Breisgau club will receive a compensation fee of around €25million, including the cost of the loan fee.
Last season, the 24-year-old made 17 appearances in all competitions for David Moyes' side, scoring one goal.
Röhl, along with Kevin Schade, who moved to Brentford for the same sum in 2023, is the most expensive sale in Freiburg's history.
This could change rather quickly, however, with current star Johan Manzambi likely to break this record sooner or later.
The Swiss World Cup star, with 2 goals and 2 assists in five appearances, is being pursued by Newcastle United in particular.
