In a flash interview with Sky, Borussia Mönchengladbach’s sporting director Roland Virkus confirmed Julian Weigl’s pending departure. The former German international was courted by both Al-Shabab and Al-Qadsiah this summer.

"Julian Weigl deserves the move. I can confirm that he is in Saudi Arabia. We are on a good path,” said Virkus. “It's about a sale, not a loan. The window over there is open longer."

The Saudi Pro League transfer window will stay open until September 10th. With Equi Fernández joining Bayer Leverkusen, Al-Qadsiah are currently leading the race for Weigl as the replacement for the Argentine midfielder. Weigl, who is expected to secure a €5 million transfer fee for Gladbach, hasn’t featured for the club this season.
