"It was just magic" - Niclas Füllkrug basks in glory of BVB's Champions League quarter-final success

"It was just magic. The energy on the pitch was crazy. Every metre I ran [tonight] became possible for me because there was so much energy [in the stadium]," beamed Niclas Füllkrug in his post-match interview.

Returning to Edin Terzić’s starting line-up tonight as Sebastian Haller missed out through injury, the striker was full of praise for his BVB comrades.

"The players [teammates] next to me made so many runs and we always came behind the ball again and again [to defend]. We also created a lot of chances and we even could have scored more," Füllkrug added.

The old-school centre forward is somewhat of late-bloomer in his trade. Competing in the German 2.Bundesliga just three years ago, Füllkrug expressed immense pride in his personal rise to European football's premiere competition.

"Today I am very happy because when you look at my career now; I [will] play in the Champions League semi-finals with Borussia Dortmund. This is amazing, and I am very happy that I can enjoy it and will enjoy it [further]," the 31-year-old grinned.

Borussia Dortmund will face former Group F or aptly named 'group of death' opponents Paris St.Germain in their Champions League semi-final. Die Schwarzgelben will also host the first-leg on April 30th or May 1st.
