Report: Werder near purchase of new right back

Belgian footballing portal "Voetbalkrant" reports that SV Werder Bremen are on the verge of signing a new fullback.

SV Werder Bremen and RSC Anderlecht are apparently close to coming to terms on the transfer of Belgian right-back Killian Sardella. Negotiations over the past few weeks have, according to Belgian footballing portal "Voetbalkrant", resulted in a compromise fee of some €6 million. Belgian transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri - while confirming that the two sides are in intensive talks - nevertheless denies that an agreement has been reached.

Sardella primari works the right flank; the same position occupied by German veteran Mitchell Weiser. The Hanseaten have opted to extend with Weiser, but are looking for additional assistance both on Weiner's side and the opposite flank. Anthony Jung, Olivier Deman, and Felix Agu all took turns occupying the left wingback role last season with none of the trio truly nailing down the slotting start.

The 13-times-capped Belgian U21 international scored one goal and registered six assists in 36 appearances for his Belgian pro league side last year. He maintains an estimated market worth of €5 million in the latest transfermarkt listings. Anderlecht reportedly initially wanted around €7 million for their homegrown player. Werder have, per the portal, upped their initial offer of €4.5 million.
