Borussia Dortmund were unable to build on their 7-1 win over Celtic in the Champions League on Saturday, suffering a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Union Berlin.
After the game, Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl was scathing in his criticism of the team's poor first-half performance, which left them 2-0 down.
"The approach, the way we conceded the goals, that shouldn't happen to us. We have to defend our goal better. We need to tackle better. The first half was nothing," said Kehl in a post-match interview.
The sporting director is particularly concerned by a lack of concentration at the back. In their last four Bundesliga games alone, the Black and Yellows have conceded eleven goals.
"That is simply too many. We have a lot of misplaced passes," Kehl continued.
The sporting director was reluctant to point the finger at anyone in particular for their latest Bundesliga setback. The whole team is responsible, he said.
"The way we have behaved in some instances is simply unacceptable. Every player knows that," he said.
Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel tried to explain the dip in form four days after the win over Celtic.
"We play every three days. We go to bed late, we travel a lot. You're tired. It's difficult to play 90 minutes every three days," he lamented.
