VfL Wolfsburg striker Jonas Wind will be sidelined for several weeks after suffering a muscle injury, head coach Dieter Hecking confirmed on Thursday.

Wind has already spent significant time on the sidelines this season due to a hamstring injury and has featured just 11 times.

“Jonas will be out for an extended period. He has suffered another muscle injury, this time in the other leg,” Hecking said at a press conference.

“It happened in a duel against two defenders. He took a long stride, and then he felt it,” he added.

Hecking expressed hope of having Wind back before the end of the season, “because in the last two or three weeks he has shown how important he can be.”

“The expectation is that he will miss three to four weeks,” the coach said.

Wind most recently scored his first goal of the campaign in last week’s 6-3 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen.
