Former French striker Thierry Henry backs Michael Olise to be the star of the 2026 World Cup. The 48-year-old coached the FC Bayern winger when they won silver at the Paris Olympics.

“Michael Olise, simple,” Henry replied when he was asked to name a player he looks forward to watching in the World Cup during FOX Sports’ opening day coverage. “We can talk about what he did for Bayern Munich – winning the double, player of the season, assists, goals. He is a dream for a coach.

“I had the opportunity to coach him. He doesn't play the game, he thinks the game. That separates him from the others, for me"

Olise scored a career first hat-trick in France's last friendly game before they traveled to the United States. Les Bleus will face Senegal in their first match of the group stage on Tuesday. While this will be the last competition for the long-serving head coach Didier Deschamps, it's the first major tournament for Olise.
