Bayern may be forced to loan Palhinha out once more

The English topflight side didn't pull the trigger on the Portuguese international who is sought after by Benfica, Sporting CP and Aston Villa.

Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi was a big fan of João Palhinha and wanted to sign him permanently this summer.

However, Bayern Munich refused to budge on the price and insisted on the €30million option to buy, forcing Spurs abandoning the idea.

That looks to have backfired right now because Benfica and Sporting Lisbon, are keen on Palhinha, they can't afford the asking price.

Both Portuguese clubs want a loan deal instead – which Bayern want to avoid – therefore their hopes currently hinge on Aston Villa.

However, it's possible the club will have to significantly lower their asking price or end up agreeing to a loan in the end.

Otherwise, they risk not finding a buyer at all and being stuck with Palhinha who has no role to play under Vincent Kompany.

The midfielder reported back to pre-season yesterday at Säbener Straße, waiting to find a solution in the meantime.
