Having impressed in his first season in the Bundesliga, Yan Diomande has been linked with a move away from RB Leipzig, with Bayern Munich said to be among the top clubs monitoring the 19-year-old.
However, RB Leipzig's managing director for sport, Marcel Schäfer, has now made it clear once and for all that the Ivorian winger is part of the club's plans beyond the summer.
"It is our aim to keep players with us for longer than just one year, because otherwise you don’t achieve any continuity,” Schäfer told Kicker.
He left no doubt about the strong position RB Leipzig hold regarding Diomande, who is under contract until 2030.
When asked whether Die Roten Bullen are in the “driver’s seat” when it comes to the player's future, Schäfer replied:
“There isn’t even anyone sitting in the passenger seat. Everyone is sitting in the back seat.”
Diomande is currently representing Côte d’Ivoire at the Africa Cup of Nations.
