Borussia Mönchengladbach have stepped up their interest in Bayern Munich youngster Paul Wanner, according to Bild.

The German tabloid reports that Gladbach managing director for sport Roland Virkus met with Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl to discuss a possible move for the 19-year-old.

“I don’t comment on names, but it is true that we want to strengthen our squad, especially in the creative department. We already have a few concrete options in mind,” Virkus said.

Die Fohlen are keen to take Wanner on loan for the upcoming campaign.

However, it has been reported that Bayern may want to keep the German U21 international, especially given Jamal Musiala’s long-term injury.

Hamburger SV, VfB Stuttgart, PSV Eindhoven, and Werder Bremen have also been linked with the young attacking midfielder, who spent last season on loan at Heidenheim.
