FC Augsburg has secured another homegrown talent for the long term in Mert Kömür, who joined the Paul Renz Academy in 2019.

Still just 19-years-old, Kömür's has been rewarded with a contract that has been prematurely extended until June 30, 2029.

The Bavarian club's managing director Michael Ströll expressed his happiness at retaining the German U-19 international's talent.

"Mert Kömür has made the leap into professional football at FCA and earned his place there with hard work and dedication.

"He was already able to demonstrate his qualities last season, and we are convinced that we will have a lot of fun with Mert in the coming years.

"We are proud to be able to tie him to FC Augsburg for the long term. He is a figurehead for our direction and shows the path young players can take with us," he explained.
