Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl has given an update on Manuel Neuer ahead of Saturday's DFB-Pokal final clash with VfB Stuttgart.

Speaking during FC Bayern Munich’s championship celebrations on Sunday, Eberl told Bild that the 40-year-old goalkeeper has picked up a “minor injury” at an “unfortunate” time with the cup final approaching.

“We still have hope! That is what matters to us. And ‘Manu’ is 40 years old, so it won’t throw him off balance,” Eberl said.

“We hope that he’ll be able to play in goal on Saturday.”

According to Bild, Neuer hasn't suffered a structural muscle injury, meaning he could theoretically feature in the final.

However, Bayern aren't expected to risk him too much, with Jonas Urbig ready to step in if required.
