Dortmund boss still hopeful of holding on to Haaland

BVB boss Sebastian Kehl would be willing to bet that Erling Haaland will stay beyond 2022.
Borussia Dortmund head of first team football Sebastian Kehl hasn't given up on keeping Erling Haaland beyond next summer.

"Of course, we are trying to give him the feeling that Borussia Dortmund continues to be a top address for him and that he can still develop here. Maybe we can still convince him," Kehl said in an interview with Bild and added:

"We will fight for him. We will try everything.

"The decision has not yet been made. But I would bet €100 [on him staying]."

Haaland's contract expires in 2024, but he has a €75 million release clause that could be activated next summer. With various bonuses, it could rise to €90 million, according to reports.

The 21-year-old striker, who has scored 13 goals in 10 games for Dortmund this season, is currently injured.
