Oliver Kahn will be "deeply disappointed" if Lewandowski doesn't win the Ballon d'Or

Bayern München boss Oliver Kahn says he will be "deeply disappointed" if Robert Lewandowski doesn't win the Ballon d'Or tonight.
Robert Lewandowski has been backed to win the Ballon d'Or by Bayern München board member Oliver Kahn and head coach Julian Nagelsmann.

Both Kahn and Nagelsmann will be rooting for Lewandowski to win the most prestigious individual prize in world football at tonight's gala in Paris.

"He's the best striker in the world. I'll be going to the Ballon d'Or gala," said Kahn in quotes posted on Bayern's official website.

"I'd be deeply disappointed if he doesn’t get the award. Nobody deserves it as much as he does."

Nagelsmann said:

"No player deserves it more than Robert. As well as his hunger for goals, he has an incredible attitude towards the sport.

"When I see some of his Instagram pictures with his six-pack, I don't think he's sitting back. If he does sit back, he gets up again and does a sit-up.

"I'll be in attendance, crossing my fingers for him. Hopefully we'll come back with the trophy."

Lewandowski was seen as the favorite to win the award in 2020, but it was cancelled due to COVID-19. He's certainly also in contention for this year's award.
