Having finally achieved promotion back to England's second footballing flight, Sunderland A.F.C. have published a list of players retained under contract and those released.

Dajaku was loaned to the third-tier English club last August with details about the arrangement remaining quite sketchy. It has now been confirmed that an automatic purchase clause tied to Sunderland's promotion has been triggered. The Waiblingen native scored four goals and contributed four assists this season in EFL league One.
The youngster of Kosovar heritage was widely regarded to be a solid developmental prospect during his time playing for Bundesliga reserve clubs. He also represented Germany at various youth levels, racking up seven tallies at the U19 level and below. The amount that Union will receive for the player was not disclosed.
Sunderland themselves haven't made much fanfare of the announcement yet, but confirmed that Dajaku was now contracted with the Wearside club. Sunderland have also confirmed that Bayern keeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann (another Bundesliga loan player) will be sent back to Germany.
