Report: AEK Athens set acquire Gacinovic for €3 million

German footballing magazine Kicker reports that TSG 1899 Hoffenheim have found a buyer for Bosnian attacking midfielder Mijat Gacinovic.
Even though Mijat Gacinovic's current loan club of Panathinaikos couldn't cobble together the cash for a straight purchase, 27-year-old attacker Mijat Gacinovic of TSG Hoffenheim will remain in Greece after all. Germany's preeminent footballing publication reports that, interestingly enough, Gacinovic is set to join the player he once was swapped for, Steven Zuber, at AEK Athens.

Gacinovic--once part of the famed Eintracht Frankfurt "Büffelherde" attacking trio--departs Germany for good having made a total of 143 league appearances for both Frankfurt and Hoffenheim over the course of seven seasons. Kicker magazine reports that the Kraichgauer are set to pocket a €3 million transfer fee for the player.

Hoffenheim still have quite a bit of work to do in clearing dead-weight off their roster this offseason. Ilkay Elmkies, Konstantinos Stafylidis, Kasim Adams, and Sargis Adamyan are widely regarded to be other actors the TSG needs to get off its payroll. According to multiple German media sources, a move out for rising German star David Raum also seems likely to be completed.
