Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed the departure of 17-year-old Zidan Sertdemir, who heads back to his home country, Denmark.

Sertdemir returns to FC Nordsjælland, who he left to join Leverkusen for €2.5 million in 2021.

"It is important for Zidan to take the next step in professional football. With a view to his future, we have found a profitable agreement for all sides," Leverkusen managing director for sport Simon Rolfes commented.

"Zidan has been able to learn a lot here. We wish him all the best for his further development."

Sertdemir told FC Nordsjælland's website:

"I've thought about returning for a while now, and I was therefore happy that there was mutual interest. They've drawn up a good plan for me. It feels like the right thing to do for me when it comes to developing further as a player and as a person, so I'm really looking forward to getting going at FCN again."

Sertdemir became Leverkusen's youngest Bundesliga debutant and the second-youngest player to play in Germany's top flight when he was handed his senior debut in November 2021 at the age of 16 years, nine months and three days.
