"Joe has developed very well with us," Virkus remarked, "To rise from an [American] U23 representative to a regular player in the Bundesliga and even a World Cup player is exemplary for the developmental path we strive for with external top talents. The new contract, extended by one year, honors this development, which we will gladly continue to assist him with."
"For me, the most important thing is to play as often as possible," Scally himself added, "Borussia gives me the opportunity to do just that and develop as a player. In the talks, the people in charge showed me a clear plan of where we want to go from here. I'm looking forward to going down this path together with Borussia."
Since making his debut on the first matchday of the 2021/22 season, the 20-year-old has already made 61 appearances for the foals across all competitions. His estimated market worth has risen from €2 million to €12 million amid four caps for the senior USMNT squad.
