Rummenigge returns to Bayern board

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has officially returned to Bayern Munich as a member of the supervisory board.
Bayern Munich have brought back former club CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge as a member of their supervisory board.

Rummenigge spent 10 years with Bayern as a player between 1974 and 1984, and returned to the club as vice president in 1991. He led the club as CEO from 2002 until July 2021.

"We are happy to have Karl-Heinz Rummenigge as a member of our supervisory board. He's one of the greatest figures in the history of our club, everyone knows what he's done. His experience, his expertise and his international network will help us enormously in ensuring that FC Bayern continues to be successful in the future," said Bayern President Herbert Hainer.

Rummenigge commented:

"I would like to thank the Supervisory Board for their trust and I'm looking forward to supporting FC Bayern in the future. I have had the great fortune and honor of celebrating many successes with this club, which is why I gladly accepted the Supervisory Board's request."

Bayern recently relieved Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic of their duties as CEO and board member for sport, respectively.

Jan-Christian Dreesen has replaced Kahn as CEO, while Salihamidzic's successor has yet to be announced.
