Two TSG 1899 Hoffenheim defenders will spend next season elsewhere. The permanent sale of Austrian fullback Stefan Posch to his Italian loan club FC Bologna was confirmed yesterday. The Kraichgau-based club pocket, according to Italian transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio, €5 million for their player of eight years. The Austrian international just completed a very successful season in the Serie A, scoring six goals in 30 appearances for the Rossoblu.

"Stefan came up through our academy and developed remarkably," TSG sporting director Alexander Rosen remarked in a statement accompanying the confirmation of the move, "After a total of eight years with us, Poschi already wanted to take on a new challenge last summer. At FC Bologna, he impressed in the past season with strong performances as a goal-scoring right-back. Those responsible have now also decided to pull the  purchase option. We wish Poschi all the best for his future in Serie A."

There was also big news coming out of Sinsheim a little earlier today. Prolific Spanish fullback/wingback Angelino - who plays on the opposite flank as Posch - will also not be returning to play for the Rhein-Neckar Club next year. The 26-year-old was part of a famous "semi-swap" deal with Leipzig last summer. Hoffenheim sold starting left-back David Raum to RB Leipzig whilst taking Angelino on loan.

The Galician did garner 12 assists in 35 appearances across all competitions for Hoffenheim this past year, but his loan club has decided not to exercise their purchase option. Rosen called Angelino a "brilliant footballer and one of the best assist providers in the Bundesliga" in a statement accompanying the news.

It remains unclear as to whether Angelino will have a future with the German Red Bulls, given that Marco Rose's squad is already stacked at his position. The Spaniard may not be the only Hoffenheim player headed to Saxony as it was reported earlier today that Christoph Baumgartner is in the sights of the 2022/23 Bundesliga's third-placed team.
