Leipzig confirm contract extension for Orban

RB Leipzig confirmed a contract extension for skipper Willi Orban on Friday afternoon.
A rumored contract extension for RB Leipzig captain Willi Orban was officially confirmed on Friday afternoon. The 30-year-old center back - currently out injured for several months - has signed a new set of working papers good through 2027. Orban's previous deal ran through the end of next season. The deal is the first piece of business to be concluded by the Saxon club since the surprise sacking of sporting CEO Max Eberl last Friday.

"Willi is an exceptional player and personality," RB sporting director Rouven Schröder noted in a statement released by the club, "He has been with us since 2015 and, together with RB Leipzig, has developed greatly as both as a player and as a personality."

"I've long since found my at home in Leipzig after eight years and feel incredibly comfortable here," Orban himself added in a separate statement, "It's a great city with great fans and people. It is something unique to play for RB because we can create something here ourselves. The infrastructure is fantastic and we have great staff, a great coach, and a great team. It's just fun every day to come here and be successful."
