Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic was full of praise for Marcel Sabitzer and Salih Özcan after Wednesday's 1-0 win over Newcastle United in the Champions League.

Filling in for the injured Julian Brandt, Marcel Sabitzer made his first start for Dortmund since returning from injury earlier this month and played a key role in the middle of the park.

"We had a fantastic first half in which we deserved to win. In the second half we defended it. We knew Marcel Sabitzer was good on the ball, we wanted to prepare for the way they played and we wanted him to keep the ball for us. You couldn't tell that he was coming back from an injury," Terzic told DAZN after the game.

Salih Özcan, meanwhile, came on at the end of the first half after captain Emre Can was injured, and Terzic was very pleased with what he saw from the midfielder.

"Emre Can suffered a very painful knock to his thigh. Salih Özcan came on, took over and did a great job. That's what we need," Terzic told DAZN.
