Hannes Wolf's agent reveals client is set for MLS move

The agent representing Borussia Mönchengladbach attacker Hannes Wolf has told Germany's Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung that his client will soon sign a four-year-deal with New York City FC of America's MLS.
ultiple German footballing sources reported earlier this week that Borussia Mönchengladbach had agreed to allow Austrian attacker Hannes Wolf prematurely terminate his existing contract with the club six months ahead of schedule. Gladbach agreed to give the 24-year-old his outright release in order to facilitate a transfer to another club without fee negotiations.

In the Friday print edition of North Rhine Westphalia's Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, Wolf's agent Antonio Baotic claims that his client will sign a four-year-deal with City Football Group's New York outfit. At what point the former Austrian youth international will be revealed remains uncertain.

Wolf joined Gladbach from RB Leipzig permanently after purchase clause was activated in his 2020/21 loan deal in the summer of 2021. At the time, the foals paid €9.5 million for a player some estimates rated even higher. Despite being overjoyed at working together with former RB Salzburg trainer Marco Rose again, Wolf found it difficult to gain regular playing time within six months of joining his new club.

Form issues and injuries limited Wolf to just 69 competitive appearances for the BMG over the course of three seasons. He spent the second half of the 2021/22 campaign on loan with Swansea City in the EFL Championship. Wolf netted five goals and registered three assists for the foals in the German top flight. After not featuring at all yet this season, his estimated market worth has sunk to an all time low of €2 million.
