VfB Stuttgart have confirmed the signing of Mahmoud Dahoud from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder returns to Germany on loan for the remainder of the season, with an option to buy.

"We are delighted that Mo Dahoud, a player who will make us even better, has decided to join VfB Stuttgart," said VfB Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth.

"Mo has already proven his enormous soccer quality in the Bundesliga and internationally. We are sure that he will quickly find his feet and will be a valuable addition to our squad from now on.

Dahoud said he was "delighted" after signing the deal.

"It's great to be playing in the Bundesliga again. VfB is a great club with a great tradition and great fans. The team plays exciting and impressive football," Dahoud commented, adding:

"I already know some of the players from the U21 national team. I'm looking forward to reuniting with VfB and can't wait to get out on the pitch with the team."
