Boateng issues emotional statement about his omission from the national team
Jerome Boateng has posted an emotional statement following his omission from the national team.
Germany coach Joachim Löw has today told Thomas Müller, Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng that they are no longer in his plans.
In the wake of Löw's decision, Jerome Boateng has now issued an emotional statement via Twitter.
"I'm sad about this news, because it has always been the greatest thing for me to represent my country. Nevertheless, I respect the new course and understand the decision of the national team coach," Boateng stated and went on:
"When I was young, I relied on older players to make room for me as well. Personally, I'm convinced that I can continue to play at the highest level and will continue to do so in the future."
"I will always look back on the time spent with the DFB team with great pleasure. I have always been extremely proud to wear the jersey of the national team team, and I will never forget the summer of 2014 in particular. Of course, I would have wished for a different farewell. Good luck to the team in the future!"
Müller, Hummels and Boateng all won the World Cup with Germany in 2014. Boateng made his international debut in 2009 and has played 76 games for Germany.
