18-year-old Karim Coulibaly is enjoying a breakthrough campaign in Werder Bremen’s first team, having made eight appearances so far.
According to reports, the young centre-back’s performances have attracted attention from other clubs. Scouts from Burnley FC were reportedly in attendance for Werder’s 1-0 win over Union Berlin, specifically to watch Coulibaly.
The Bundesliga side, though, are not losing any sleep over it.
“That doesn’t make us nervous at all,” said Werder’s managing director of professional football, Clemens Fritz, in an interview with Bremen-based outlet Deichstube.
“It’s more of a compliment to his work and to ours here.”
Coulibaly’s contract – which runs until 2029 – does not include a release clause, according to Deichstube.
