Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka is eager to return to the English Premier League, where he previously played for Arsenal.

Speaking to Sky Germany, Xhaka’s agent, José Noguera, confirmed that the 32-year-old has agreed personal terms with newly-promoted Premier League side Sunderland.

“We’ve reached an agreement in principle with Sunderland. Granit wants to return to the Premier League," Noguera said.

It's now up to the two clubs to reach an agreement on the transfer fee.

“Sunderland excites him – he wants to take on this challenge. We hope Leverkusen will respect his wish to leave and that the clubs will find an agreement soon,” the agent added.

Reports have suggested that Leverkusen could ship Xhaka on for a fee of around €15 million.
