Xabi Alonso discusses possible changes for Leverkusen against Kiel
Following games against Bayern Munich and AC Milan, Bayer Leverkusen prepare for Saturday's Bundesliga clash with bottom side Holstein Kiel.
The exhausting nature of the previous two matches has led to speculation that Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso could rotate his side for Saturday's clash.
The Spaniard himself doesn't want to use that word, but confirmed that there could be changes.
"Maybe, yes. I always say that we need all the players. The squad is good and we have depth. We're in three competitions. The Bundesliga is always the most important for me. I have full confidence in all the players," he said at a press conference on Friday, as usual without giving too much away.
"I have full trust in all players, they're there, I can see that in every training session - they have a good attitude and spirit. Maybe tomorrow there'll be some... not rotation, that will just be the next lineup."
Jonas Hofmann is likely to be one of the Leverkusen players longing for his chance, having watched the club's last five games from the bench.
On Hofmann's current situation, Xabi said:
“We need every player. Maybe he's going through a period where he's not playing too much. That doesn't mean he won't be important throughout the season. That's normal at any club, it can happen. I have confidence in him and I know Jonas very well, he's an experienced player and I'm sure he'll be ready when we need him.”
