Newcastle United are said to be on the verge of signing 20-year-old goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen from Stade Reims – apparently much to the frustration of Freiburg’s Noah Atubolu.

According to Bild, Atubolu had long hoped for a move to Newcastle, where he wanted to fulfil his dream of playing in the Premier League. But with the Magpies seemingly having opted for Jaouen, that no longer appears realistic.

Atubolu has no future at Freiburg, who have already signed a replacement in Mio Backhaus from Werder Bremen.

The question is where he will head instead, with Real Sociedad, Atlético Madrid, AC Milan, Inter and Napoli all having been linked with the 24-year-old.
