According to a ‘Football League World' exclusive, Birmingham City are closing in on the signing of Werder Bremen's Marvin Ducksch.

Having been linked with a move to the Blues this week, the striker could spearhead the attack next season in the EFL Championship.

The report also suggests that negotiations are now well and truly down the line in terms of advanced talks with the Bundesliga club.

Ducksch also has other suitors in Greek outfit PAOK Salonika are one, however Birmingham appear to be the likelier of the two clubs.

With just 12 months remaining on his existing deal with the green and whites, Die Werderaner are demanding a modest fee by all accounts.

However, Birmingham do have funds available, having kept transfer fees to a minimum while chasing down their targets so far this summer.

Ducksch recently suffered a calf injury during pre-season this month, which could see the 31-year-old in a race against time to be fit.
