Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane reflected on his team’s hard-fought 3-2 DFB Pokal victory over Union Berlin, highlighting the importance of staying in the competition:

“It means a lot - this [DFB Pokal] hasn’t been a good competition for us in recent years,” Kane said. “It’s games like these you need to win. Coming through matches like this gives you extra confidence.”

Kane also questioned the officiating during the chaotic encounter: “When you have a game like this with 100 aerial duels, I don’t understand the penalty decision. It was harsh. Both penalty decisions were harsh to be honest,” he noted.

Despite the controversies, Kane insisted the focus was on the result. “The most important thing is winning tonight and staying in the competition over the next calendar year.”

His comments underline the relief and satisfaction within Bayern after surviving a frantic, set-piece-heavy battle in Köpenick.
