Earlier this week, it was reported that Alejandro Grimaldo has struggled with muscle problems while on international duty with Spain, leaving him a doubt for Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga clash against VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday.

At a press conference on Friday, Leverkusen coach Kasper Hjulmand confirmed that a final decision on Grimaldo’s availability, alongside fellow wing-back Arthur, will be made after training.

“There is a small question mark with Grimaldo, but he is ready to train today. We’ll see after training. The same goes for Arthur we’ll decide after seeing them in training,” Hjulmand said.

The Danish coach added that Nathan Tella will return to the squad, having been out since September, while Axel Tape and Lucas Vázquez are progressing in their injury recoveries.

When asked whether Lucas Vázquez, sidelined since early October with muscular problems, is expected back before the end of the year, Hjulmand said:

“Of course we hope so. We’re taking it day by day in training. It’s a more complicated injury than we initially thought, but it’s looking good, and he’s doing well in training. We don’t know exactly when he’ll be able to play again, but it's looking better and better."
