With Marie-Louise Eta to depart in summer, Sport Bild has identified four coaching candidates to take over at 1.FC Union Berlin. Bild lists four possible alternatives.

According to Sky Germany, Mauro Lustrinelli, who achieved a sensational success in Switzerland this season, bringing newly promoted FC Thun to the championship.

The 50-year-old Swiss coach will likely take the next step in his career this summer, and a move to Union Berlin would see him follow a similar path to that of Urs Fischer.

Christian Eichner is another candidate, who will leave Karlsruher SC after more than six years following the season. Talks with the 43-year-old have been ongoing for weeks.

Horst Steffen – most recently in the dugout at Werder Bremen – is, alongside Eichner, is another favourite option at the Alte Försterei despite also being linked with 1.FC Köln.

Meanwhile, René Wagner is currently in charge at Köln, but it's unknown whether the interim coach will be promoted to head coach. If not, Berlin could present a chance.

Finally, the tabloid lists André Breitenreiter, most formerly of Hannover 96, but gives the 52-year-old a similarly slim chance of getting the job at the Köpenick club.

Like Steffen, Breitenreiter is currently without a club and knows Union's managing director of professional football, Horst Heldt, from time together at Hannover and FC Schalke 04.
